Valentine’s day dinner couldn’t be easier than a couple of delicious steaks! This recipe from one of our customers incorporates her favourite tipple: Sloe gin! I believe she polished off the sauce, drinking straight from the jug! We have beef steaks on offer for Valentines too.
Ingredients:
20g butter
1 clove of garlic
3 tablespoons (and a big splash ) of sloe gin
1 beef stockpot
125ml water (mix with the stockpot to make stock)
Sprinkle of rosemary
To finish the sauce:
1 teaspoon dollop of butter
A bit more sloe gin!
pinch of flour
Here is how to make this recipe:
In a pan melt the butter and crush the garlic in, add your preferred beef steaks and brown both sides, then pour the Sloe gin over the steaks and add the prepared stock. Sprinkle dried rosemary over the steaks. Cook your steaks over medium heat until they are at your desired tenderness, and then lift them out onto the side to rest. Add another teaspoon of butter, a little more of the gin, a pinch of flour and heat the sauce to reduce it. Once thicken, serve your steaks with the sauce poured over.
This was served with chips, peas and a salad. I am also told this recipe was tried with our venison haunch steaks with equal success. We have added a link above to make sloe gin for yourselves by harvesting the
